Has anyone ever asked you questions about the Bible or your faith? Have you ever heard people discussing Christianity and get it completely wrong? As a teenager, explaining your faith in an easily understandable way can be difficult; the misconception our culture has of Christianity doesn’t help either.
Therefore, I spent time going through familiar scriptures and reading articles about sharing faith effectively, and complied this list of the most commonly repeated verses. So let’s get going; here are five verses to help you share/explain your faith.
1. Romans 10:9-10
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
This was by far the most commonly listed verse. If you declare aloud to others that Jesus is the Lord of your life and believe that he died and rose again, you attain salvation. Obviously there is more to Christianity than “get out of hell free insurance,” but this is the basic foundation of our faith.
2. John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
This verse is probably the most memorized of any scripture in the Bible becuase it explains our beliefs succinctly. Because God loved humanity, he sent his son to DIE ON A CROSS for us. If we believe in God and Jesus’ sacrifice, we will have eternal life.
Verse 17 is equally important. It reminds us that God didn’t send Jesus to show off his perfection and condemn us. He sent him as an example to us and in turn, Jesus taught us how to “save” the world.
3. Romans 3:23-25
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness…”
This verse reminds us that we are ALL sinners. No one is better than anyone else and no sin is less “wrong” than any other. To be free from sin, God sent Jesus and used him as the sacrifice for our forgiveness for as long as the Earth remains. God did this because he is GOOD and righteous.
Side note: No other religion in the world has a “story” like this. No other religion serves a God that is ALIVE. Writing these truths over and over just reminds me of how amazing the truth of Christianity can be to those who will listen.

4. Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans seems to have the monopoly on “faith sharing” verses ;). Even though we were lowly sinners, God LOVES us so much, that he sent Jesus to die for our sins. Our holy God cannot tolerate sin and sent Jesus to make a way for us to come to Him, sin free and white as snow.
5. The Apostles’s Creed
OK, so this one isn’t a Bible verse. This is something my home church has recited every Sunday for years. One time, I really focused on the words and realized that it truly explains almost everything about the Christian faith in simple and understandable terms:
I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord.
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit
I believe in the holy Christian church, the communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting. Amen.
This hits every major theological truth in our Christian faith.
