Four Qualities of a Good Friend
By the time you finish high school, you will hear many quotes about friends and friendship. Some that I’ve seen at my school are:
“You are who you hang around.”
“Show me your friends, and I will show you your future.”
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
– Jim Rohn
Having a good friend or two is CRUCIAL at any age but especially in your teenage years. At your developmental stage, acceptance into a peer group proves a top biological priority whether you realize it or not.

Girls in my youth group ask me frequently, “What characteristics should I look for in a Christian guy?”
When trying to find a simple way to explain good characteristics to look for in a teenage guy, Psalm 15 always comes to mind. It is a short chapter and is packed with simple and straightforward characteristics.
We will break down each characteristic and there’s a list at the bottom. Here we go!
For the Brokenhearted: 5 Tips to Help the Hurt
Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
To all of you out there who are suffering with a broken heart from a break up, I want to tell you as strongly as I can in words that I wish with all my heart that I could reach through this screen and hug you.
Not one of those two second hugs but a hug for as long as you needed it hug. A “it’s OK to fall apart and cry” hug. I wish I could look you in the eye and tell you that it is OK to let it out.
Emotional pain is nothing to ignore. Avoiding it will gnaw at you. I do believe in being strong, but there are also times to ugly cry with abandon…
About
How we started
This site launched in 2016 to serve as a resource for 13-18 year old Christian teenage girls to help them grow in their faith and better navigate the craziness of teenage life. From 2016 to the end of 2019, all of our posts and resources were specifically targeted to this audience.
As a result of targeting this audience, we followed over 500 churches and youth groups throughout the United States. We wanted them to know who we were and to find out more about them.
Unfortunately, the longer we followed, the more we discovered a lack of the gospel. Worldly ideologies, advertisements, and entertainment ran rampant, and we were truly taken aback. This fact, coupled with the upheaval within the denomination that we were raised in that will soon have a “amicable split” where the majority will follow unbiblical teachings, wrecked us to our very core.
At the end of 2019, we knew we needed to change our scope for this ministry. We had been away from the “pulse” of teenage life for a few years due to motherhood and job changes. We had also written everything the Lord had put on our hearts to cover.
So that leads us to where we are now…
What our focus is now
At our core, we are a website of resources. We want to help those who want to live out Romans 12:2, which has always been the goal of this ministry,
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
We want people to be aware of the deception and false teachings that are creeping into the body of Christ. We want to truly live out Ephesians 4:11-16,
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherd and teachers,12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Therefore, our posts on this site and social media will revolve around three main goals:
- Resources to help understand the Gospel
- Warning about false gospels, false teachers, and other worldly infiltrations in the Church
- Providing resources to various age groups to help them grow in their Christian walk
To get a better idea of what this looks like, when I do our first blog post for our new direction, I will link it here. Until then, you can go watch our Instagram stories to see more of what we are talking about.
This website is already a site FULL of resources for teens. You can look at any of the blogs on the site and also see our recommended book resources for teens.
How do I follow along?
As we transition, the main way to keep up with what is going on is to follow us on Instagram. The second is to subscribe to our newsletter. Our newsletter goes out about once a month and lets you know what is going on here and provides you with resources. I highly recommend you do both of these.
We are also on these social media platforms as well: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest.
Thank you for your time! We hope you’ll join the journey.
We have books!
If you would like to see all four books, go ahead and click here.
In 2017, I (Sarah…I’m the book writer), wrote the book So, You Think You’re Ready to Date?. It is a 40 day devotional that sets a Biblical foundation for dating relationships. I updated it in 2020. You can click the title to learn more.
In 2020, since the world was shut down, I finished the other books I had been working on:
- God’s Not Gray: Biblical Truth in a Society of Blurred Lines tackles topics that society, and even the church, have attempted to “gray” that are clearly explained in the Bible. This book specifically covers sin, salvation, tolerance, the hook up culture, identity, and the Christian mission. You can learn more by clicking here.
- When it comes to the birth of Christ, the account is usually told in bits and pieces, and it is rare to see it all together. For Unto Us is a 15 day Christmas devotional that remedies this by tracing the birth of Jesus Christ from Old Testament prophecy to the manger. Click here to see more!
- The Special Wreath is a book Sarah wrote for her children. It is designed to explain the meaning of the Advent wreath and reiterate the real meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ! Click here to learn more.
Information you need to know, but I wasn’t sure where to put it. 😉
